Why Take a Break
We built Take a Break because we remember what life was like when humans worked, played, and socialized in person.
What we heard
We spoke with lots of family, friends, and strangers. We heard the same themes about isolation and a desire to connect in-person again.
"Coming out of Covid… my hermit tendencies were more pronounced."
"I'm starved for interpersonal connections."
Problem Awareness
They want your data first…
Most social apps are designed to keep you online, not to get you offline and face-to-face with real people.
People need breaks.
Loneliness is at epidemic levels. Short, low-pressure in-person meetups are one of the most effective ways to restore a sense of connection.
In-person breaks are good for business.
Companies with stronger human connection see better productivity, creativity, and retention.
Introducing
Take a Break
Serendipitous Moments
Every break is a chance encounter — a conversation you didn't plan but will remember.
A Break from Phones and Social Media
We ask attendees to put the phone down and be present with the people in front of them.
Safe
Small groups, public venues, and a community built on mutual respect.
